The ex-mayor of the Romanian city Voineşti, Neculai Ivaşcu, tried to get a new mandate during the second tour of the local election. Unfortunately, he died right in the morning of the day of the election, yesterday, due to an older disease.

The law didn't specify what to be done in this situation, so he remained on the list of the candidates for the mayor of that city.

Voineşti is a very little town, so all the people knew right away about the decease of their mayor.

But, surprise!

After the counting of the votes, the dead candidate is the winner! Now, the habitants of Voineşti have a dead mayor.

The Central Election Office decided that the mayor will be, in this conditions, the candidate that was on the second place, but the other political parties do not agree with this decision and request for a new election.

But above all these, it seems to me that the votes of the habitants of Voineşti has a more important signification. Some newspapers try to accredit the idea that those votes was an homage for the ex-mayor of their city. I think, and I'm almost sure, that those votes were rather determined by a spirit of revolt and disgust against the corrupted local and national authorities. Something like an oath.
