First bear sanctuary has been set up outside Brasov and opened in Autumn 2006. The aim of the sanctuary is for the bears to get a taste of freedom and to live in a large enclosure in a wooded hillside. There is a Bear hospital as part of one of the enclosures where the bears can be checked and receive medical attention and observation posts to monitor their progress. (Bear Sanctuary)
