Automobile history eras

Benz 1885-built Benz Patent Motorwagen, the first car to go into production with an internal combustion engine

Although self-powered vehicles were demonstrated as early as 1769, it was not until 1885 that the history of the automobile truly began. Automotive history is generally divided into a number of eras based on the major design and technology shifts seen over the last century. Although the exact boundaries of each era can be hazy, scholarship has defined them as follows:

LHC Design

LHC quadrupole magnets

The LHC is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. The collider is contained in a circular tunnel, with a circumference of 27 kilometres (17 mi), at a depth ranging from 50 to 175 metres underground.

History of the automobiles

The automobile powered by the Otto gasoline engine was invented in Germany by Karl Benz in 1885. Even though Karl Benz is credited with the invention of the modern automobile, several German engineers worked on building automobiles at the same time.
