Automakers or automobile manufacturers are companies that design and manufacture automobiles. Most of them are based in Germany, Japan, South Korea or the United States.
They are often influential political groups, hence they often affect environmental issues.
The "Big Three" U.S. market share has declined from 70% in 1998 to 53% in 2008. They have lost market share to imports and "transplants" (cars made in U.S. factories owned by foreign makers).
Barack Obama was approached by one of the media; it appeared he was going to win the election.
The reporter asked him, "Do you have any plans on making changes in the war in Iraq immediately?"
Obama looked at him, and said, "The first thing I want to do is switch generals. It seems to me that General Motors isn't doing too well, and I want to replace with General Electric
